Latest trends!

On September 25, 2024, The Things Conference took place in Amsterdam, a leading event that is fully dedicated to the Internet of Things (IoT). Our Manager Operations was present and shares a short impression of this inspiring event, where IoT experts from more than 70 countries come together to discuss the latest trends and innovations.

This year, much attention was focused on two important themes: sustainability of sensors and security within the IoT infrastructure. One of the main questions addressed during the conference was how sensors can be made more sustainable, for example by using alternative energy sources such as light instead of batteries.

In addition, security remains a crucial topic in the IoT world. The close intertwining of cyber and physical systems requires a broader approach to security. The National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) presented their IoT security whitepaper, which emphasizes how a limited number of basic principles and standards can already reduce many vulnerabilities. This offers valuable insights for SWYCS, which we can use to make our services even more secure and future-proof.

In addition to the lectures, there was ample opportunity for networking and discovering new IoT sensors. The ‘wall of fame’ showed the newest and smallest IoT sensors, all supported out of the box by SWYCS!
