McCain Appetizers Europe has taken an important step in its sustainability ambitions with the opening of a state-of-the-art factory on the De Poort business park in Rilland. This new building meets the highest BREEAM requirements, underlining the company’s commitment to environmentally friendly production. A crucial part of this sustainability is the implementation of an innovative energy management system, developed by SWYCS.
The new factory is part of the production facilities of McCain Appetizers Europe in Kruiningen, Yerseke and Rilland. Breaded, frozen snacks are produced here based on vegetables, such as mushrooms, onion rings and vegetable fries made from broccoli or cauliflower. These products are manufactured under strict quality standards and find their way to customers in retail, food service and fast-food restaurants worldwide.
The energy management system implemented by SWYCS offers McCain detailed insight into the energy flows within the new factory. This makes it possible to see exactly which part of the production process uses how much power. In addition to energy consumption, water use within the production process is also closely monitored. Thanks to this technology, McCain can handle resources efficiently and adjust consumption where necessary. As an additional measure against unnecessary energy consumption, the lighting of the factory is also centrally managed via the energy management system. This fits in perfectly with the vision of McCain Appetizers Europe to produce sustainably and at the same time meet the highest requirements in terms of food safety and quality.
The opening of this plant marks a milestone for McCain Appetizers Europe and underlines the company’s leadership in sustainable food production, while continuing to contribute to a future where quality, taste and responsible business practices come together.
